Yesterday we took the subway to the empire state building, and took pictures, and it wasn't really that interesting. But we did check out a department store called Macy's, and apparently it's the biggest store in the world. It's got 11 floors, including a cellar and a floor 1 1/2. To get from floor to floor, they had elevators and wooden escalators. It sold everything from makeup to groceries and there was a food court in the cellar. It's big enough that they could probably have over 1000 customers in there at once. Then we went home. It's funny, Tobin seems to only have three pairs of socks, so that's part of the reason we went to Macy's. We went to the biggest store in the world to buy a pair of kids socks, and eat lunch.
The subway was very cramped coming home, because everyone was coming home from work. There was a jazz group busking at one of the subway stations, and they were really good, exept that the trumpet player puffed out his cheeks while he played. There wasn't a trombone, but they had a trumpet, a guitar, an English horn I think, and a bass, and they all took turns singing.
We have a lava lamp in our apartment, so I took some pictures of that.
Today we are boarding the Queen Mary 2, and because that's so exciting, I'll probably be doing another post later today.
